How to Spot a Fake PT Job Ad

Searching for your next role as a physical therapist should be exciting. It should be about finding a clinic where you vibe with the team, can grow, serve patients, and do your best work. Too often, though, the experience is confusing. There are tons of job listings, and not all of them are real. They can look questionable, waste your time, or worse, are a scam.

Here are five signs a PT job ad may not be worth your attention.

    1. The employer hides behind vague language

If a posting only says "rehab facility" or "healthcare provider" without naming the clinic, stop and ask why. Real clinics want to be known. When a name is missing, there is usually a reason.

    2. The pay looks unrealistic

Compensation that seems far above market rate or is missing altogether is a warning sign. Pay transparency matters. If the posting cannot be clear about what they offer, they may not be serious about hiring.

    3. The job description is generic

If the description could fit a dozen different professions or just any clinic, at best you are not looking at a thoughtful posting. Clinics that are truly looking for PTs describe the setting, patient mix, and more about the company. Generic descriptions often mean the ad is just a placeholder to collect resumes.

    4. The contact information is off

Legitimate employers use their own domains and professional addresses. A job that directs you to apply via a personal Gmail account or does not provide clear contact details may be risky.

    5. There is pressure or overpromising

"Apply immediately to secure your spot" or "guaranteed placement" are signs of a scam. Your career is not a clearance sale. A real clinic is careful about who they bring on.
